When we are starting out as goalkeepers it's best to break down the complex movements in goal into a few short exercises to help the keeper find their legs and balance throughout the drill, so to start we are going to cover the few basic forms of MOVEMENT ACROSS GOAL that all keepers will have to master if they want to get into the right position in time!
Movement goes hand in hand with FOOTWORK and proper footwork with good balance leads to a solid base to make catching or diving after the shot a simple movement.
AND THE MAIN THING HOLDING IT ALL TOGETHER IS BALANCE!
Once these initial steps are covered we talk about probably the most important point of all for beginners and it's the PROPER KEEPER SET POSITION! A good keeper set is the launching pad for a great diving save or simple hold, and it's all about proper technique!
